Maryland Quotes
Coach Brenda Frese:
On the game:
"I thought it was good to be able to get our first game jitters out of the way. We started out slow in the first 10 minutes. In the second half, however, we settled down after the early adversity with the foul trouble and started playing better, in terms of getting in sync with what we needed to do."
On Kristi Toliver's energy early in the game:
"I thought she did a great job. Anytime she's being aggressive and attacking, understands when to pull up and be able to shoot, and when to look for her teammates, especially in the second half. There were a lot of unselfish decisions she made for us and her assist-to-turnover rate will speak volumes in terms of her bringing that kind of energy to this team."
On Kristi's 3 pointer at the buzzer:
"She loves those shots, it's always a big momentum booster for us and that's who we want to have the ball at the end of the half. She has the confidence, she loves to make those plays and she consistently does."
On getting a double-double out of Jade Perry:
"Jade is going to have a tremendous year for us and she has already shown that in the preseason. She is really motivated and driven and, as you can see, she's our strongest post player down low. We just need Jade to continue to play with that kind of confidence and strength and she does a lot of things for us, and that's what we are going to need."
On the play of the freshman:
"I thought they had some really solid contributions. At times, they are still playing like freshman and we don't have time for them to play like freshman with our schedule. But at the same time, they are all very gifted. When you look at the contributions we're getting from Marah Strickland, Drey Mingo and Kat Lyons, all three come from winning backgrounds and have asserted themselves very easily into our lineup."

On playing Princeton:
"Princeton is a very good team and very disciplined. I think that is going to help us prepare against the other teams that we are going to play that do the exact same thing. But at the same, time we want to go up and down and push it and take advantage of the opportunities that we have. I think today was just a good opportunity or us to do both of those things."
On starting a new season:
"We are excited to start a new chapter. It was the seniors' last "first game" at Maryland so I think they wanted to come out and put in a great effort. I know we didn't show that in the first half, but in the second half we played hard and I think we are ready to take steps forward."
Jade Perry
On starting in place of Crystal Langhorne:
"No one can replace Crystal Langhorne. I am just doing my job and playing hard with my defense and my rebounding."
Princeton Quotes
Head Coach Courtney Banghart
Opening Statement:
"Maryland is a very experienced, very athletic, very versatile team. In some ways, it's an easy team to play because we have nothing to lose. In most ways, it's a very hard team to play because they are so versatile and a very talented team. We made small goals and one of them was to slow down the Maryland offense and I think we did that to some extent. We have got some inexperience in our guard position and I was a little worried about our turnovers, but, at the end, I was pleased with the way we handled the pressure."
On the play of Kristi Toliver:
"Kristi Toliver is tough and we tried to set our game plan to just try and challenge her shots, but she still made them. I thought we forced her to take some very tough shots, she hit that three at the end of the first half. I think we challenged her well and I think if she just keeps leading her team I am sure she will be in line for one of the end-of-the-year awards, I would imagine."
On Maryland's rebounding:
"On the boards, they out-size us and they play with much more aggressiveness then we do. We tried to throw a lot of doubles down there early to pack it in and I think we did a good job with that, so I think it shows our kids execution of the game plan was good."
