COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's lacrosse team will face six teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season as the 2008 schedule was released on December 21. The Terrapins will face four non-conference opponents that qualified for postseason play along with Duke and Virginia. The schedule opens with a trip to Massachusetts for a pair of games in late February.

Maryland opens the season on Friday, February 22 when it heads to Amherst to take on Massachusetts. The Terps then open conference play when they travel the Mass Pike to face Boston College on February 24.

The matchup against the Eagles is the first of three straight ACC contests as Maryland then faces Duke in Durham, N.C. on March 1. The home portion of the schedule begins with Virginia, which lost to Northwestern in the national title game, and begins a season-long four game home stretch. The Blue Devils advanced to the final four in 2007.

The Terps and James Madison renew their rivalry and will play each other for the first time since 2003 on March 8 in College Park. Two more non-conference opponents come to College Park to conclude the homestand in Richmond and Dartmouth on March 12 and 15, respectively. The Spiders also advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year.

Maryland travels to Johns Hopkins and to Stanford for the first time ever on March 17 and 22, respectively, before returning home to rekindle its series with Towson on March 26. It is the first time the Terps and Tigers will meet since 2000. The annual ACC/ALC Challenge will be on April 4 and 6 in Chapel Hill, N.C. where the Terps will take on Penn State and Ohio State.

Maryland returns to Chapel Hill on April 12 to face North Carolina, an NCAA quarterfinalist in 2007, before returning home for games against Georgetown and Virginia Tech on April 16 and 19, respectively.

The 2008 ACC Championship will be held from April 24-27 at Virginia's Klockner Stadium. Before the NCAA Tournament begins on May 11, the Terps will take on Princeton on April 30 and Loyola on May 3. Princeton advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year.

The semifinals and final of the NCAA Tournament will be held at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson and are set for May 23 and 25.
