COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Maryland women's lacrosse earns its 36th straight bid to the NCAA Tournament, as announced on Sunday night. Maryland earned the third seed and will host the first and second rounds at SECU Stadium in College Park. The Terps will host Rutgers in the NCAA Second Round at 12 p.m. after Rutgers defeated Princeton, 12–11, on Friday, May 8. The game will air on ESPN+.

Where We've Been

Maryland will head into the NCAA Tournament with 16-3 record, including five ranked wins over No. 13 Syracuse, No. 12 Virginia, No. 14 Princeton, No. 7 Johns Hopkins, and No. 21 Penn State.
Offensively, the Terps have been led by Kori Edmondson and Lauren LaPointe, who have tallied 44 and 59 goals, respectively. Fourteen players have scored through this season, with five recording 40 or more points this season.
Defensively, 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List member JJ Suriano has been strong in goal. The junior is 16–3 with 197 total saves, including 16 against No. 13 Syracuse, 13 against No. 12 Virginia, and 13 against No. 7 Johns Hopkins.

Five Five members of the No. 3 Maryland women's lacrosse team earned USA Lacrosse All-American honors, as announced Thursday by USA Lacrosse. Honorees include Kori Edmondson, Lauren LaPointe, JJ Suriano, Kayla Gilmore, and Maddy Sterling. This marks the 17th consecutive year Maryland has had at least three All-Americans.
Edmondson and Suriano earned First Team honors, while LaPointe and Gilmore received Third Team recognition. Sterling rounded out the group with Honorable Mention honors.
Edmondson earned First Team All-American honors from USA Lacrosse for the second consecutive season. The senior also received unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition for the second straight year. Edmondson has made an impact across the field, ranking third on the team with 57 points on 44 goals and 13 assists while placing second with 67 draw controls. She earned a spot as a Tewaaraton Top-25 finalist and was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team. Edmondson was selected fourth overall in the first round of the professional draft by the New York Charging. She will conclude her career in College Park as one of the most decorated players in program history. The No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class, Edmondson chose to stay home and developed into one of the premier players to wear a Maryland uniform. She currently ranks 28th all-time in program history with 215 career points.
Suriano turned in an impressive junior season, earning Big Ten Goaltender of the Year honors and becoming the seventh Terp to win the award since Maryland joined the conference. She currently leads the Big Ten in saves per game (10.38), total saves (166), and save percentage (.520), while ranking second nationally in saves. Suriano also earned All-Big Ten First Team honors and was named a Tewaaraton Top-25 finalist.
LaPointe earned Third Team honors for the first time in her career. The junior received unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition following an outstanding season leading the Terrapins' offense. She leads the team with 81 points and 59 goals, doubling her goal total from last season. LaPointe was named both IWLCA and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and earned Midseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse. Against No. 7 Johns Hopkins, she delivered a career-best performance with seven goals and 10 points in a 15–12 road victory. She has recorded four or more points in 14 of 19 games this season.
Gilmore earned Third Team honors and received USA Lacrosse All-American recognition for the second consecutive year after earning Honorable Mention honors as a freshman last season. The sophomore earned All-Big Ten First Team honors for the first time in her career. Gilmore leads the team with 106 draw controls and ranks third with 30 groundballs while adding 15 points on the season.
Sterling earned Honorable Mention honors for the first time in her career. A cornerstone of Maryland's defense, she leads the team with 16 caused turnovers and ranks second with 23 groundballs. Sterling has consistently matched up against and limited some of the nation's top offensive players. She earned All-Big Ten First Team honors and was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team. In the Big Ten Championship against Northwestern, Sterling held Big Ten leading scorer Madison Taylor to just one goal, her fewest in a game this season. Sterling was selected in the third round with the 11th overall pick by the Maryland Charm.

Five members earned All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced on Tuesday. Honorees include Kori Edmondson, Lauren LaPointe, JJ Suriano, Kayla Gilmore, and Maddy Sterling, while Olivia Rockstroh was recognized with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
LaPointe earned unanimous All-Big Ten First Team honors following an outstanding junior campaign leading the Terrapins' offense. She led the team with 76 points and 55 goals, doubling her goal total from last season.
Edmondson received unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition for the second consecutive season. The senior has made an impact across the field, ranking third on the team with 54 points on 42 goals and 12 assists, while also placing second with 65 draw controls.
Suriano turned in an impressive junior season, leading the conference in saves per game (9.91), total saves (185), and save percentage (.512). She also ranked first nationally in save percentage throughout the regular season.
Gilmore earned All-Big Ten First Team honors for the first time in her career. The sophomore leads the team with 101 draw controls and ranks fourth with 20 groundballs, while adding 14 points on the season.
Sterling also garnered First Team All-Big Ten recognition for the first time. A cornerstone of Maryland's defense, she leads the team with 15 caused turnovers and ranks third with 21 groundballs.

With three points against Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship, Kori Edmondson moved into 28th place on Maryland women's lacrosse's all-time career points list.

The No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class, Edmondson opted to stay home and has developed into one of the premier players to wear the Maryland uniform. She currently ranks 29th all-time in program history with 204 career points.
During her senior season, Edmondson has been a key contributor across the field, ranking third on the team with 54 points on 42 goals and 12 assists, while also sitting second with 65 draw controls.
Sterling was selected in the third round with the 11th overall pick by the Maryland Charm. A cornerstone of Maryland's defense, Sterling has consistently matched up against and neutralized some of the nation's top offensive players. She has started every game over the past two seasons, totaling 36 caused turnovers and 47 ground balls.
Sterling joins a Maryland Charm roster that already features six former Terrapins: Alex Aust Holman ('13), Aurora Cordingley ('22), Erica Evans ('19), Grace Griffin ('22), Abby Bosco ('23), and Meg Douty ('15).
The New York Charging will open their season on May 16 at 5:30 p.m. in Rhode Island against the Boston Guard. The Maryland Charm will officially kick off their season in Baltimore on Friday, May 29, at 8:30 p.m against the California Palms.

Maryland is the winningest program in women's lacrosse, currently standing with a 819-171-3 record all-time. The Terps have won 82.6-percent of their games all time, also the highest winning percentage of all-time. With a win against No. 8 Johns Hopkins, 13-11, in its regular season finale on Saturday. This was Maryland's 800th program win, the most by any women's college lacrosse program.
