Maryland plays three games in the final three weeks of December, after the Terrapins played their first 14 games of the season in 31 days.

The Terps have had at least one player with a double-double in 12 of their 15 games.
Three Terps overall were selected preseason candidates for the Wade Trophy and Wooden Award.

Maryland Hosts Local Foes for Terrapin Classic
The Terps, who are ranked in the top five in the nation, welcome UMBC and Richmond for the Terrapin Classic Dec. 28-30. Maryland hosts the event, which is taking on a new format this season, for the ninth time in the last 10 years.
The three-day, round-robin tournament begins with the Retrievers and Spiders battling on Friday, Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. Tickets are free for the game. Maryland takes on Richmond on Saturday, Dec. 29 and UMBC on Sunday, Dec. 30 with both games tipping off at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through the Comcast Center Ticket Office. All three games will take place on the main arena floor of Comcast Center.
After suffering its first loss of the season on Dec. 3, the Terps have won their last four games. Maryland played four games in the first week of December, capping a 14-game schedule in 31 days. It will play only three games in the final three weeks of the month.

Terps Ranked Top Five in the Nation
Maryland is ranked fifth in the nation in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls. The Terps have been ranked in the top five every week in the AP ranking and has been in the top five in the coaches poll in seven of the eight weeks.
The Terps' 14-1 record to date includes wins over four ranked teams. Their only loss was to Rutgers, who was in the top five at the time of the meeting and remains in the top 10.
Seven Maryland opponents appear in the top 25 polls. This season's schedule featured games against LSU (#8/8), Rutgers (#6/6), Oklahoma (#9/9), Notre Dame (#16/16) and Ohio State (#17/18). Conference rivals North Carolina (#4/4) and Duke (#13/14) are also ranked in the top 25 this week.
The Terps faced ND and LSU in the Preseason WNIT, defeating the Tigers for the tournament crown. The Buckeyes visited Maryland for the inaugural Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Maryland beat the Sooners in the State Farm Tip-Off Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C., and its only loss was on the road in Piscataway, N.J., in the Jimmy V Classic to Rutgers.
Nine more opponents receiving votes in one or both of the polls:NC State, Pittsburgh, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Virginia, Temple, James Madison and Middle Tennnessee State.
About the Terps
The first team in the nation to win 10 games, Maryland is 14-1 on the season, playing its first 14 games of the season in a 31-day stretch. The wins include four victories over ranked teams, including two in the Preseason WNIT, which the Terps won.
Maryland has had at least one player with a double-double in 12 of its 15 games, posting 18 double-doubles overall. Junior Marissa Coleman leads the team with five double-doubles on the season, followed by four a piece from junior Kristi Toliver and senior Laura Harper.
Leading the way offensively for the Terrapins is junior Kristi Toliver, who is averaging a team-best 16.9 points and 7.9 assists per game. For the third-straight year, Maryland has had at least four players averaging double figures on the season.
Coleman is grabbing a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game, with Harper not far behind, averaging 7.9 rpg. Three Terps, in all, are averaging at least 6.0 rpg.
The Terps' offense continues to be one of the best in the nation. As of Dec. 16, they ranked third in the nation and are currently first in the ACC in field goal percentage, knocking down over 50 percent of their shot attempts. Maryland also had the best three-point shooting percentage in the country at 43.8 percent. The national statistical rankings will be released on Jan. 4.
The nation's leader in rebounding margin the last two years, Maryland has outrebounding its opponents by +11.1 rpg. On Dec. 16, it ranked 13th in the nation in the category.

UMBC:
The Retrievers are 4-7 heading into the Terrapin Classic, after dropping a close 69-61 decision to Towson on Dec. 19, snapping a two-game win streak. Six of UMBC's 10 games have been decided by 10 points or less, posting a 3-3 record in those games. Carlee Cassidy is leading the pack averaging 15.6 points per game. UMBC is scoring 58.2 points per game, allowing 62.5 ppg.
UMBC returned five starters, including two starters, from last year's team which won the 2007 America East Championship crown, despite being only a six seed. The Retrievers went on to make their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The team is mentored by Phil Stern, who is in his sixth season at the helm.
SERIES HISTORY vs. UMBC: The Terps have never lost to UMBC in seven meetings of the series, which dates back to 1987. Six of the seven meetings have been in College Park.
RICHMOND:
Winning three of its last four games before the holidays, the Spiders are 6-5 going into the Terrapin Classic after a recent 73-62 win over Albany. Maryland will be their second shot at an ACC squad, losing, 80-59, earlier in the season at Virginia. Richmond has spent most of the season on the road, playing seven games on the road or at a neutral site.
Richmond has three players averaging double figures, including Johanna McKnight, who has been the team's high scorer six times, while averaging 15.1 points per game. Her average is up nearly seven points per game from last season. Back after taking a redshirt season, Christina Campion is the team's leading rebounder with 6.3 rebounds per game and was named to the Preseason All-Atlantic 10 team.
Third-year head coach Michael Shafer returned four starters from last year's team which went 13-17 overall and tied for sixth in the A-10 with a 7-7 record.
SERIES HISTORY vs. RICHMOND: Maryland leads the all-time series, 4-2. The last meeting was a 74-52 decision in the Spriders' favor in Richmond, Va., in December 2002, six games into Terrapin head coach Brenda Frese's first season at Maryland.
Langhorne First Terp with 1,000 Pts. & 1,000 Rebounds
Senior Crystal Langhorne has recorded another first in school history. Breaking Maryland's all-time rebounding record in early December, Langhorne became the first-ever Terrapin women's basketball player to grab 1,000 career rebounds.
Langhorne is one of only two Terrapins, male or female, to reach the 1,000-rebound milestone. Len Elmore (1972-74) had 1,053 boards in his career playing at Maryland.
Langhorne also became the 15th player in ACC history to have grabbed 1,000 rebounds.
