Inside Lacrosse has released the first media poll of the 2007 season and the Maryland Terrapins are ranked sixth.
Defending national champion Virginia is this year's preseason top pick, garnering 13 of 16 first-place votes. Johns Hopkins, Syracuse and Princeton each received a first-place vote and were ranked Nos. 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Georgetown rounds out this year's top five.
Behind Maryland in the top 10 are Cornell, Duke, Navy and Massachusetts.
In total, 10 of the Terps' 2007 opponents are either ranked or receiving votes with five appearing in the top 10.
The Inside Lacrosse media poll comes out every Monday during the season and is comprised of pollsters from various media outlets throughout the country.
