The University of Maryland women's water polo team could not carry momentum from this afternoon's overtime win against Bucknell into tonight's game against Princeton, as the Tigers handled the Terps 8-4.
Goal contributors for Maryland were sophomores Rachel Jordan, Elizabeth Hopkins, and Blaise Stanicic, and freshman Sarah Ivry.
In goal, sophomore Ashleigh Jobson garnered two saves while allowing six goals scored in the first three quarters. Junior Anna Gossett took over in the fourth quarter, adding a block.
"We didn't do what we wanted to do on defense," said Maryland head coach Carl Salyer. "They jumped out on us. This wasn't a good game for us. Luckily we have a week of training before we go out to California."
The Terps will face San Jose State and UC Santa Cruz on Sunday, March 18, for the first two of eight games against West Coast opponents. Maryland will face off against Princeton again on Sunday, March 31 in College Park. The Tigers are 3-0 against the Terps this season.
Maryland's record stands at 8-11 overall, 3-1 in the CWPA South.
