Toni Aluko of the University of Maryland was recently named to the NCAA Division I All-Academic Track and Field Team as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Aluko, a senior-to-be from Burtonsville, Md., was one of 415 student-athletes selected nationally for the All-Academic team. This past spring, Aluko won the women's high jump at the 2007 Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Maryland. She was also a qualifier for the NCAA Regional Championships.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher and obtain an outdoor regional qualifying mark in their respective event.
Maryland was also honored as a team as a women's 2007 All-Academic Track and Field Team. The Terps collectively earned a 3.10 GPA over the academic year, and was one of 97 programs honored as prt of the USTFCCCA program.
To be honored, teams must carry a minimum 3.00 GPA as a group.
