COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Eleven consensus All-Americans, five coaches and Maryland's list of honorees in the College Football Hall of Fame will be among the 33 former University of Maryland football greats to be honored with places on the concourse of Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium this fall.
As part of a plan to enhance the appearance of the stadium, the Terrapin Club is sponsoring wraps on the bleachers that provide additional seating on the concourse level. Displayed on those wraps are photographs of 33 all-time Terrapin greats, as selected by a committee of athletics department officials and historians.
The group includes the eight University of Maryland stars currently in the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame. All 11 of Maryland's consensus All-Americans are on the list, and five coaches are among the honorees including current head coach Ralph Friedgen.
"We're happy the Terrapin Club will be a part of making the stadium more attractive to our fans," said senior associate athletics director Brian Ullmann. "This is one of a number of things we're doing to make Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium a friendly, exciting place to be for Maryland football."
