COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's basketball team took time out of their schedule to spend Friday morning with the Special Olympics of Maryland, Prince George's County.

Around 40 athletes joined the Terrapins on the main floor of Comcast Center to participate in skills stations. Afterwards, the participants took part in full-court games playing with the Maryland players and were coached by them, as well.

At the conclusion of the morning, the Special Olympics of Maryland, Prince George's County presented the Terrapin players and coaches with t-shirts and medals, before enjoying a lunch as a group.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for citizens with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
