COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
After picking up an always critical ACC road win on Friday night, the No. 10 Maryland men's soccer team returns to non-conference action when they play host to Lehigh at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night at Ludwig Field.
Junior midfielder Jeremy Hall has been on fire for the Terps as of late, registering seven points in a pair of wins for Maryland last week. Hall connected with freshman Casey Townsend for the game-winning assist in a 2-1 overtime battle against No. 21 Charlotte on Tuesday. Hall also scored the equalizer in that game midway thru the second half and picked up two goals in a 4-0 rout of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Friday night. Hall is now tied for the lead with Townsend in points (16) and goals (7). Hall and Townsend are one goal and two points shy of last year's leader in both categories with five games remaining in the regular season.
At Virginia Tech on Friday, Zac MacMath tallied his first ACC win between the pipes for Maryland but was helped by a steadfast Terrapin defense that allowed only three shots the entire game. The Hokies did not register a shot until the 75th minute of the contest.
Lehigh enters Tuesday night's game with a 5-3-3 record and has not suffered a defeat in its last four outings. The Mountain Hawks tied Holy Cross, 0-0, at home on Saturday night. Lehigh is led by the trio of Tim Taranto, Kyle Evans and Adam Gazda, who all boast four goals this season. Taranto leads the squad in points with 14. Joseph Nydell has seen the majority of action at goalkeeper for the Mountain Hawks, registering 25 saves with a 5-2-2 record.
Maryland leads the all-time series, 1-0-0, against Lehigh, winning the only meeting between the two programs, 2-1, last season at Ludwig Field. With the score tied 1-1 in the 84th minute, Hall connected on a penalty kick to give the Terps the win on Oct. 9.
Tickets for Tuesday night's contest at Ludwig Field are $8 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors. The game will be available via radio at www.wmucsports.com and on an internet broadcast at www.accselect.com. ="">
