CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - With the regular season winding down, the fifth-ranked Maryland men's soccer team travels to Virginia for a pivotal ACC contest against the Cavaliers at 7 p.m. on Friday night at Klöckner Stadium.

Maryland, which looks to benefit from a season-high seven-day break from competition, rolls into Charlottesville on a six-game win streak that dates back to a loss at Clemson on Oct. 3. The Terps are led by the duo of Jeremy Hall and Casey Townsend, who combine for 20 goals and six assists this season. Hall has a hefty eight goals in his last seven appearances, including three multi-goal games and a pair of game-winners. Sophomore forward Jason Herrick scored a pair of goals to lead Maryland over NC State, 2-1, in ACC action last Friday night in Raleigh. The win gives the Terps a 4-2-0 record in ACC play and sets up a battle for second place in the conference against the 4-2-0 Cavaliers on Friday.

Virginia, which boasts a 6-2-1 record at Klöckner Stadium in 2008, is unbeaten on its home turf in its last seven outings. The Cavaliers dropped American, 4-2, on Tuesday night, thanks in majority to midfielder Jonathan Villanueva's two goals and two assists. Friday night's game will display two of the finest freshmen in the nation as Townsend will face-off with Virginia's Tony Tchani, who leads the Cavaliers with nine goals in his rookie campaign. Keeper Michael Giallombardo and the Virginia defense have allowed only seven goals in their last ten matches.

The Terps lead the all-time series, 34-25-7, including a 4-1 win on Senior Day at Ludwig Field last season, and have won four of the last five meetings. Maryland is scary good on Halloween, boasting a 9-1-0 record and outscoring their opponents 30-13 on Oct. 31st in program history.

Maryland has only two games remaining on its regular season slate before heading to the ACC Tournament. Following the squad's Virginia trip, the Terps head back to the friendly confines of Ludwig Field for Senior Night against North Carolina next Friday.

The Virginia/Maryland contest will be broadcast live via ACC Select.
