COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Senior guard Kristi Toliver has earned Associated Press Preseason All-American honors, the news agency announced. Toliver is the second Terrapin in as many years to earn the distinction after Crystal Langhorne garnered the honor last year.
Toliver earned All-American status after a stellar junior season which saw her dish out an Atlantic Coast Conference record 275 assists while averaging 17.1 points. Toliver earned the Nancy Lieberman Award after the season as the nation's top point guard.
The honor is not the first for the Harrisonburg, Va. native this season. Along with senior teammate Marissa Coleman, Toliver was named to the first-team All-ACC at the conference's annual preseason media day. Toliver was tabbed as the ACC's Preseason Player of the Year.
Toliver and the Terps have one final tune-up before the regular season beings, playing Team Evolution in an exhibition game at the Comcast Center on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Maryland opens its regular season on Nov. 14 when it travels to take on TCU.
