COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After spending the first month and a half of the season on the road, the University of Maryland wrestling team will compete in front of the home fans for the first time this year at 1 p.m. Sunday when Princeton visits Comcast Pavilion for the Terrapins' home opener.
"It's good to be home. Hopefully, we'll be more comfortable not having to travel," Maryland head coach Kerry McCoy said. "The home fans get to see us and that's a big deal. The athletic department has been doing really well lately, with field hockey winning the national championship, men's soccer in the final four and the men's basketball team having some big wins already. We want to feed off that positive energy, No. 1. No. 2, we need to get back on the mat and pick up where we left off last week at Penn State."
The dual meet will be broadcast live on the Internet via ACC Select.
The Terrapins are 2-4-1 in dual meets this season, with all four losses coming to teams currently in the top 25, including three top-10 teams in No. 1 Iowa, No. 5 Missouri and No. 9 Lehigh.
The Tigers are 1-3 in dual competition.
Maryland, which is receiving top-25 votes, is expected to send three ranked wrestlers to the mat against the Tigers in No. 9 Steven Bell (133 pounds), No. 18 Alex Krom (141 pounds) and No. 7 Hudson Taylor (197 pounds).
