Maryland Travels to Duke for a Nationally Televised Contest
Fourth-ranked Maryland travels to 12th-ranked Duke on Sunday, Feb. 17 for a nationally televised contest. The Terrapins are looking for their first win at Cameron Indoor Stadium since 2000.
Maryland won the first meeting between the teams this season in College Park, it was the Terps first win over the Blue Devils on their home court in 10 years. The last time Maryland swept the regular-season series was in 19993.
The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports Net (Comcast SportsNet in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. area) with Debbie Antonelli and Mike Hogewood calling the action. Fans can also listen to the game across the state on the Maryland Radio Network.
About the Blue Devils
Duke is 19-6 and 8-2, riding a three-game winning streak. Its only two ACC losses to date are to the top teams in the league - Maryland and North Carolina.
Chante Black leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.3 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game. The only other Blue Devils averaging double figures is Abby Waner, who is contributing 11.0 ppg.
Duke is averaging 71.4 ppg, but is limiting its opponents to 34.5 percent shooting, which ranks 10th in the nation. The Blue Devils are also one of the best shot blocking teams in the country averaging 6.8 stuffs per game, while also making 13.2 steals per game, ranking 15th in the nation.
SERIES HISTORY vs. DUKE: Maryland leads the all-time series, 34-31, winning three of the last five meetings. The Terps' win at Comcast Center in January was their first over the Blue Devils in College Park since 1998. The Terrapins have not won in Durham, N.C., since 2000. The last time Maryland has swept the regular-season series was in 1993.
Toliver Selected Finalist for Top Point Guard Honor
Junior Kristi Toliver was selected a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, presented to the nation's top Division I women's basketball player. Toliver is joined on the list by eight other point guards.
Toliver is the only point guard in the ACC on the list of final nominees.
Toliver is third in the nation in assists per game (8.0), threatening the ACC's single-season record. She is also averaging a career-best 16.9 ppg.
Toliver was a finalist for the honor last year, as well.

For the first time in the history of the program, Maryland has won at least 10 ACC games in three-consecutive seasons.
Under head coach Brenda Frese, the Terps have posted at least a .500 record in ACC play in five of her last six seasons at the Maryland helm. It is the first time the Terps have had five-straight .500 or better campaigns in conference action since the 1993-94 season.
Coming Up
Maryland returns home for the final regular-season game of the year. The Terrapins host Florida State on Sunday, Feb. 24. On that afternoon, the Terps will honor its most winningest senior class in the history of the program for Senior Day.
