Maryland Downs Coppin State in NCAA Tournament Opener, 80-66

Postgame Notes

• Maryland improves its overall NCAA Tournament record to 22-15 with the win.
• Coppin State drops to 0-3 overall in NCAA Tournament play. Their last appearance was in 2006, when they fell in the first round to Connecticut, 77-54.
• With the victory, Maryland has advanced to the second round for a fifth consecutive season.
• With today's victory, Maryland moves to 20-0 at home this season and 27-1 when leading at halftime.
• Coppin State drops to 2-8 when trailing at halftime.
• Maryland's Kristi Toliver broke the ACC's single-season assists record, a mark which former Terp Tara Heiss (249) had held for 30 years. Toliver has now dished 255 this season.
• With the win, Maryland Head Coach Brenda Frese has 200 victories for her career.
• For the third straight year and fourth year out of five, Maryland has scored at least 80 points in its first round NCAA Tournament game.
• For the 26th time this season, at least four Terrapins reached double figures. Langhorne, Coleman, Harper and Toliver all had at least 13 points in today's victory. The Terps have had at least four in double figures in each of the last eight games.
• With 25 points today, Maryland senior Crystal Langhorne has extender her school record for career points to 2,188, which is also eighth all-time in the ACC.
• With 12 rebounds today, Langhorne now has 200, extending her school career record. She is now tied for sixth all-time in the ACC with Charlotte Smith from North Carolina at 1,200.
• Langhorne made nine free throws today to give her 454 for her career, moving her into ninth all-time in the ACC.
• Langhorne registered her 58th career double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. It is her 14th this season and her fifth in NCAA Tournament play.
• With 25 points, Langhorne reached double figures for the 122nd time in her career, the 26th time this season. It is the 35th time she has reached 20 points, and the ninth time she has met that mark this year. She has scored at least 11 points in all but two games in which she appeared this season.
• With 17 points today, Maryland junior Marissa Coleman now has 540 points this season, good for the ninth best season in Maryland history. • With 17 points on the day, Coleman needs just two more points for 1,500 in her career.
• With 17 points, Coleman reached double figures for the 85th time in her career, the 29th time this season.
• Maryland senior Laura Harper's 14 points marked the 77th time she has scored in double figures in her career. She has topped the 10-point mark 28 times this season.
• With 14 points today, Maryland junior Kristi Toliver now has 570 points this season, good for the sixth best season in Maryland history.
• With seven assists, Toliver has moved into the top 10 in ACC history. She now has 561, tying her with Donna Holt of Virginia for ninth all time in the conference. She sits just 22 assists behind Debbie Lytle (583 from 1980-83) for the Maryland school record.
• Toliver reached double figures with 14 points, the 78th time in her career she has accomplished that feat. It is her 30th double figure game this year.
• Coppin State senior Shalamar Oakley hit 20 points or more for the 11th game this season, and 14th of her career.
• Oakley has scored in double-figures for the 68th time in her career and 31st out of 34 games this season.
• With 25 points today, Coppin State senior Rashida Suber extender her school record career points record to 1,863.
• Suber reached double-figures for the 32nd time this season out of 34 games and 96th time for her career.
• Suber reached 20 points or more for the 10th time this season, and 26th time in her Coppin State career.
• Coppin State junior Whitney Cunningham reached double-figures for the 11th time this season and the 18th time in her career. It is the first time this season the Eagles have lost when Cunningham reaches that mark.
• Shalamar Oakley and Rashida Suber combined for 30 of the Eagles' 35 halftime points. Only Whitney Cunningham, who totaled three points, and Jennifer Martin, who made a field goal with under a minute to go, added to Coppin State's total.
• Langhorne started her 131st game of her Maryland career, the most in school history.
• Maryland senior Ashleigh Newman played in her 138th game of her career, the most in Maryland history. Senior Jade Perry is two behind Newman, having now played in 136 games. Langhorne is fourth with 132 games played.
