WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sophomore Brandi George scored a season-high 9.850 on balance beam, helping the University of Maryland gymnastics team earn a total of 192.500 points in a tri-meet Sunday afternoon at George Washington University.
Maryland finished behind West Virginia, which won the team competition at 194.550, and George Washington, which was second at 192.650.
Beginning the competition on floor exercise, the Terps scored an event total of 47.525. Freshman Kaitlin Joseph turned in their top score with a 9.625, followed by a pair of 9.60 scores from sophomores Talia Tossone and George.
In the second rotation, Maryland vaulted to a total of 47.825. Sophomore Candice King nailed her landing for a 9.60, the Terrapins' top vault mark.
Sophomore Allison Dama swung to a 9.875 to tie her career-high on uneven bars, sparking the team to a season-best 48.850 event total. Dama finished second overall on the event. Three Terps also notched season-highs; Kaitlin Joseph scored a 9.70 and Abigail Adams and Lisa Reifschneider both scored 9.750, tying for seventh.
George turned in a solid balance beam routine highlighted by a stuck double tuck dismount to win the event with a 9.850. Tossone scored a 9.775 and tied for second place. Adams registered a season-best of 9.750, placing fifth.

The Terrapins host their final home event of the season on March 15 against Michigan, Pittsburgh and Temple. The meet is slated for 4:00 p.m. at the Comcast Pavilion. Seniors Lindsey Bonomo and Gretchen Kittelberger will be honored for their achievements at Maryland.
