Washington, D.C. - Former Terrapins and current WNBA players Crystal Langhorne and Laura Harper squared off for the first time in their professional careers as the Sacramento Monarchs visited the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night. The Monarchs upended the home team in a nail biter, winning 79-76. Although the Mystics drew plenty of support from the home crowd, it was Harper and Langhorne who drew the most cheers as plenty of Terps fans were on hand for the big game and the first meeting between the former teammates.

Both Terrapins had solid games, helping their respective teams stay within striking distance of each other. Crystal Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro), Maryland's all-time leading scorer and rebounder and consensus All-American while with the Terps, posted her first-career double-double in the pros, contributing career highs of 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Laura Harper, an All-ACC pick as a senior, had six points on 3-for-4 shooting with four rebounds and a block.

Plenty of Terp fans arrived at Verizon Center to support Langhorne and Harper. The duo, along with Maryland head coach Brenda Frese and Mystics GM Linda Hargrove, addressed Mystics and Maryland supporters in a "chalk-talk," then the players signed autographs and posed for pictures. Current Maryland players also came out for the big event, showing support for both former teammates.

The Mystics and Langhorne travel to Chicago next on Friday, June 13. The game will be televised nationally on NBA-TV. The Monarchs and Harper head to Minnesota on June 12.
