No. 18 South Florida Travels North to Face No. 8 Maryland in Men's Soccer

Aug. 21, 2008

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 8 Maryland men's soccer team will face No. 18 South Florida in a final tune-up for the regular season on Friday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Ludwig Field.

Maryland battled Virginia Commonwealth to a 0-0 stalemate in an exhibition match last Saturday in Richmond, Va.

The Bulls enter Friday's friendly with a pair of ties this preseason, matching the University of Tampa, 0-0, and the U-17 Venezuelan team, 1-1. Sophomore Luke Magill has scored the lone goal of the preseason for USF. Bulls' midfielder Kevon Neaves was named to the 2008 Hermann Trophy Watch List after finishing last season with six goals and eight assists.

Neaves joined Maryland defender Omar Gonzalez on the prestigious list. The junior from Dallas, Texas, was tabbed a second-team All-ACC pick a year ago and is poised to lead the Terps this season.

Maryland, which hosted Media Day at Ludwig Field on Thursday afternoon, leads the all-time series against USF, 0-2-0. The last meeting between the two squads came in 2000 when the Terps dropped the Bulls, 3-0.
