Sophomore Maddi Lee hit .321 with 11 kills Sunday against Miami in an Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball match at Comcast Pavilion, but the visiting Hurricanes won all three sets to take the match, 25-23, 25-15 and 25-18.
The Terrapins (10-12, 2-7 ACC) had a good chance to take the opening set, battling back from a 17-11 deficit to cut Miami's lead to one at 24-23. But Maryland couldn't tie the score to extend the set, as Ali Becker clinched the set for the Hurricanes (12-7, 5-4 ACC) with a kill.
After holding off the Terps' late rally in the first set, the Hurricanes won the next two sets comfortably. Miami hit .289 and .407 in the second and third sets and held the Terps below .150 hitting in each of those sets.
Lane Carico led Miami with 18 kills on .300 hitting and Lici McGee added eight kills and hit .700. Lisa Scott had five blocks for the Terps and Brittney Grove posted 13 digs.
Maryland is back home next weekend to face Virginia and Virginia Tech Friday and Sunday, respectively.
