COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's basketball team will host their third opponent in six days as Drexel visits Comcast Center Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. ET.
Drexel (2-1) is on a two-game winning streak after toppling Richmond 67-52 on the road. Senior forward Gabriela Marginean earned her second season double-double with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds. Teammate junior guard Jasmina Rosseel tallied a career-high tying 21 points for the Dragons.
Maryland (5-1) defeated Howard (1-4) Friday evening, 79-51, for the program's 41st consecutive home win. Freshman forward Tianna Hawkins led the Terps with her first career double-double posting 17 points and 11 rebounds. Hawkins has led the attack off the bench with four double-figure scoring performances this season. The Clinton, Md., native is the third leading scorer and top rebounder for the Terrapins averaging a near double-double per game with 12 points and 8.3 rebounds.
Sophomore center Lynetta Kizer, the team's leading scorer with 14.3 points per game, was limited in points and boards against Howard after suffering a sprained left ankle. Kizer dished out a career-high four assists before she was forced to sit out the rest of the game.
For the fifth time this season, at least three Terps scored 10 or more points. Freshman forward Diandra Tchatchouang was 6-of-9 from the field for 14 points. Tchatchouang has registered at least one three-pointer in every game this season. Senior guard Lori Bjork also tallied double-figures with a season-high 16 points. Twelve of Bjork's points came from her season-best 4-of-7 performance from behind the arc. Maryland tied their season-high in treys made with eight, hitting seven in just the first half. Sophomore guard Anjale Barrett contributed two of those three-pointers, a season-high, for 11 points and dished out four assists.
