| Terps 21st in Preseason Coaches' Poll
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's basketball team will play Bowie State in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Comcast Center, as the Terrapins prepare to open the regular season Nov. 14 against North Carolina Central.
The matchup with Bowie State is the first of two preseason exhibitions for the Terps, as Catholic visits Comcast Center next Tuesday.
Led by reigning ACC Rookie of the Year Lynetta Kizer, Maryland fields a talented, but young roster this season. Kizer, who averaged more than 11 points and seven rebounds last year, is the team's only returning starter.
However, key reserves Anjalé Barrett, Kim Rodgers and Yemi Oyefuwa are all back and figure to play increased roles this year. The Terps also add six talented newcomers, including senior guard Lori Bjork, a transfer from Illinois who was named all-Big Ten in 2008.
Maryland was recently picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic Coast Conference's preseason media poll, receiving three first-place votes. The Terps finished just out of the Associated Press preseason top-25 poll, garnering 114 votes to come in at No. 27.
