COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Drew Yates is one of five seniors celebrating Senior Night Friday night at Ludwig Field. Yates has been played in every match (86 consecutive) since his arrival to College Park in 2006, playing a role in 60 wins during that span.

Umterps.com caught up with Drew prior to Friday's match against College of Charleston.

Umterps.com: Why did you choose to come to Maryland and be a Terp?
Yates: I chose Maryland because it had a great soccer program, it was close to home, and had great academics.

Umterps.com: Looking back at the last four seasons, what would you say is your greatest memory?
Yates: My greatest memory here at Maryland is winning the national championship last year. It was one of the greatest feelings I have ever had. My other greatest memories are my time hanging with the guys.

Umterps.com: What would you say has been the key for you in staying healthy all four seasons?
Yates: My off-field habits. I have always been good about stretching a lot outside of practice and always staying hydrated. I believe these two things have really helped my body to be resistant to injury. Also the past two seasons we have done pre-hab with our strength and conditioning coach Barry Kagan and this has helped me to avoid injury as well.

Umterps.com: If you had to leave one parting piece of advice for the younger guys, what would it be?
Yates: Stay focused and just be ready when your chance comes. At a prestigious program like Maryland that is full of great players, it is hard to get in the rotation, but what I've learned over the years is that you will get your chances and when you do you have to make the best of them.

Umterps.com: What do you hope to do after graduation in May?
Yates: I am graduating early in December and after I hope to play professional soccer in the MLS. That has been my dream ever since I was little.
