COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The University of Maryland women's basketball team will play Catholic at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Comcast Center in the second of two preseason exhibitions, as the Terrapins prepare to open the regular season Saturday against North Carolina Central.
The Terps, who are ranked 21st in the ESPN/USA Today Preseason Coaches' Poll, opened their exhibition season last Wednesday against Bowie State with a 90-48 victory. Freshman Tianna Hawkins led Maryland against Bowie State, posting game highs with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Maryland is one of the youngest teams in the country this season with five freshmen and four sophomores on its roster. The Terps' top returner is reigning ACC Rookie of the Year Lynetta Kizer. Kizer gave way to her younger teammates last week against Bowie State, but managed 10 points and eight rebounds in 15 minutes.
The Catholic Cardinals, a Division III school from Washington, D.C., are playing in their only exhibition before opening their season Sunday against Wesley.
