Zac MacMath was named to Soccer America's 2009 MVP team while Taylor Kemp landed on the All-Freshman squad, the publication announced Friday.
MacMath was named to the publication's second team and adds the award to his already decorated postseason after garnering All-ACC and All-South Atlantic region first team honors along with being named a second team All-American by the NSCAA and TopDrawerSoccer.com. The St. Petersburg, Fla., product led a youth-laden Maryland squad to the NCAA Elite Eight this season after serving as the Terps' keeper in their national title run in 2008. The sophomore surrendered a mere 19 goals all season while boasting a 0.88 goals against average.
Maryland defender Taylor Kemp was tabbed to the All-Freshman first team. Kemp, who hails from Highlands Ranch, Colo., stepped in nicely for the Terrapin backline in his rookie campaign, starting in every match but one for the Terps while helping Maryland to nine shutouts in 2009. Kemp also garnered All-Freshman honors from the ACC and TopDrawerSoccer.com. He was one of seven rookies from the ACC to land on the Soccer America's first team.
