Terrapin Classic Concludes Tuesday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The final game of the 2009 Terrapin Classic concludes today Tuesday, Dec. 29 with Maryland playing UNC-Wilmington at 7 p.m. ET in Comcast Center.
The Terps (10-2) won the first game of the tournament against Stony Brook (2-10), 76-44, Sunday evening. The Seawolves played UNC-Wilmington (5-5) Monday afternoon.
During Sunday's game the Terrapins had four players in double-figures for the fifth time this season. Freshman Diandra Tchatchouang led the squad with 17 points while sophomore Lynetta Kizer registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Redshirt-freshman Jackie Nared had a career day with 15 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Senior Lori Bjork also posted double-figure points with 16 including four baskets from behind the arc.
Under the basket freshman Tianna Hawkins grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Hawkins leads the team in rebounds averaging 8.3 per game. She also leads the nation in field goal percentage 63.2 percent.
UNC-Wilmington is coming off its win against Stony Brook. Junior forward Brittany Blackwell posted 16 points and four rebounds against the Seawolves. She continues to lead the Seahawks in scoring (13.8), rebounding (9.0), assists (3.0) and steals (2.6). Jasmine Johnson led all teams Monday afternoon with 17 points.
Maryland and UNCW have never met on the court. The Terps are currently 3-0 against teams they have met for the first time this season.
Maryland has two more games before they head into conference play, all at home. Tickets for games through the holidays, Dec. 29th (UNC-Wilmington) and Jan. 3rd (Saint Joseph's), are half price. Tickets for the Duke game on Jan. 24 are on sale NOW online only.
