COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 22 Maryland women's hoops team puts their program-record home game winning streak on the line when they face Loyola (Md.) Sunday at 2 p.m. ET in Comcast Center. The Terrapins have won their last 43 home games.
Sunday is also Kids Day. Young Terp fans can enjoy fun pre-game activities, to include face painting, poster making, and a picture with Testudo, and have the opportunity to be a part of the game day production on this special day!
Maryland (7-1) defeated Minnesota (5-3) 66-45 Thursday evening during the Third Annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Terps' win helped the ACC come out on top during the Challenge for the third year in a row winning seven games to the Big Ten's four.
Sophomore Kim Rodgers had an impressive night, posting a game-high and career high-tying 14 points. She also pulled down eight boards, dished out two assists and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Rodgers has only missed one free throw in 13 tries which spans five games.
At least three Terps recorded double-digit figures for the seventh time this season. Sophomore Lynetta Kizer and freshman Diandra Tchatchouang have accomplished the feat six times and lead the squad in points scored per game with 13.6.
Loyola (3-4) will be concluding their six-road game stint with Maryland Sunday following a heartbreaking 66-65 loss to Towson Thursday evening. Sophomore guard Miriam McKenzie leads the Greyhounds in scoring and rebounds averaging 17.4 points and 7.7 boards per game. McKenzie had 19 points, pulled down six boards and tied for a game-high five assists in the team's last game against Towson.
Maryland and Loyola (Md.) will meet for the 19th time in the overall series and the 11th time in College Park. The Terps lead the series 15-3 and have won the list nine contests against the Greyhounds. Maryland and Loyola have met at least once every single year since 1996. The Terrapins last defeated the Greyhounds 83-52 on Dec. 9, 2008.
