GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland has placed three student-athletes on the 2008 All-ACC Academic Men's Soccer Team, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
All-Freshman honoree Zac MacMath was one of six All-ACC award winners to also land All-ACC academic honors. The freshman keeper led Maryland to its highest shutout total in program history while leading the NCAA in goals against average.
MacMath joined juniors Drew Yates and Doug Rodkey on the squad. Yates, one of the top players off the bench for the national champion Terps, scored one goal and dished out four assists in 26 games played. Rodkey led Maryland in assists with nine while earning 24 starts in the midfield for the Terps. Yates is currently majoring in history while Rodkey is a government and criminology/criminal justice major.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career. Zack Schilawski, a junior biology major from Wake Forest, was named ACC Men's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year.
