GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland guard/forward Marissa Coleman was named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced today. The Terrapin senior picked up her fifth career Player of the Week honor, most among active players, after leading 9th-ranked Maryland to three wins on the week, including victories over No. 15 Virginia and Big East foe Rutgers.

Coleman averaged 24.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in leading Maryland to a 3-0 mark on the week. The native of Cheltenham, Md., attempted at least 10 free throws in three straight games for the first time in her career, sinking 88.2 percent (30-of-34), including a perfect 10-for-10 mark in Maryland's road win at Boston College.

She became the second-leading scorer in Maryland history on a night in which she scored a season-high 28 points, Thursday versus Virginia, along with moving into the Top 20 in ACC history in scoring while recording her 1,000th career rebound. The veteran shot 50 percent from the floor on the week and 42.9 percent from three-point range.

Coleman and the Terps, winners of five straight, return to action on Thursday in Atlanta, Ga., versus ACC rival Georgia Tech. The game will be televised on ESPNU with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
