PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Maryland water polo team extended their win streak to six in a victory over Wagner, 10-7, before falling to Marist, 7-6, on the final day at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday.
Senior goalkeeper Ashleigh Jobson put forth a pair of strong efforts as the Terps (6-4) offense struggled for much of the day.
Six Terrapins scored in a wire-to-wire win against the Seahawks, but Maryland couldn't find the back of the net in the second game.
"We weren't really firing on all cylinders offensively, we did just enough to beat Wagner," said Coach Carl Salyer. "Ashleigh had a great weekend and we created a ton of opportunities on the offensive end; we just couldn't convert them into goals."
Jobson posted two of her best performances of the season suffocating the opposing attacks, combining for 25 blocks during the two games. Unfortunately for her, Maryland's offense only managed 6 goals on 37 shots in their game against the Red Foxes.
Freshman Callan Rowe led the Maryland offensive with five goals, including a hat trick against Marist. Rachel Jordan helped with four goals and Elina Goldenberg scored three.
The Terps will play a division game at George Washington on Wednesday.
