COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's soccer team will play D.C. United and ACC-rival Wake Forest as part of its' five-game spring schedule, announced by head coach Sasho Cirovski Monday.

Maryland, which won its second national title in the past four seasons this fall, kicks off the spring season with a match against D.C. United of Major League Soccer at 1 p.m. this Sunday, March 1 at Ludwig Field. Come support the Terps as they welcome back former standouts Marc Burch, Dominic Mediate and recently-departed Maryland defender Rodney Wallace, who was drafted by D.C. United with the sixth pick in this year's MLS SuperDraft. Admission for this Sunday's match against D.C. United is free to the public.

The Terps will have a month of training in preparation for their remaining matches. Maryland returns to competition on Wednesday, April 1, when they take the field against the three-time USL Champion Rochester Rhinos and former Terrapin defensive stalwart Kenny Bertz. That contest is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Ludwig Field.

A battle of the last two national champions will ensue when the 2008 national champion Terrapins will take on Wake Forest, the 2007 College Cup champs, at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 17. The match-up between the Terps and the Deacons will be a fundraising event for the Maryland-based Kicks Against Breast Cancer (KABC) organization. The game will take place prior to D.C. United's nationally-televised (ESPN2) game against the New England Revolution at 7 p.m. For tickets please contact Dan Giffin at DC United (202) 587-5479. A portion of all proceeds for the Maryland vs. Wake Forest game will go to the KABC foundation or you can donate following the link at the top of the page.

Maryland will then head to Omaha, Neb., where they will take on the Bluejays of Creighton on April 26 in a rematch of the 2008 NCAA quarterfinal that saw the Terps win 1-0 en route to the 2008 national title. The game is set to kick off at 1 p.m.

Maryland rounds out its spring season with a match at UMass on Friday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. The Terps will travel to Amherst as part of the annual UMass Sports Management Soccer Fest at Rudd Field. The Minutemen, members of the Atlantic 10 conference, reached the College Cup in 2007 and were a 2008 NCAA tournament team.

The spring season officially wraps-up with the annual Alumni Game, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 3 at 1 p.m. at Ludwig Field.

"I'm pleased to announce another exciting spring schedule," head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "We will be tested on the field with a great variety of challenging games. The blend of games will offer a great development opportunity for our returning players as we begin the work of creating a new identity for next season's team."
