Terps to Hold Jersey Ceremony for Harper After Game

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's basketball team will look to ride the momentum created from its dramatic, buzzer-beating victory at Florida State into its showdown with NC State on Thursday at the Comcast Center. Tip-off with the Wolfpack is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
The No. 13/11 Terrapins (17-4, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) have won four of their last five games, including Monday's thrilling win against the Seminoles. Senior guard Kristi Toliver nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, with Maryland trailing by two points, to cap a four-point comeback with under a minute remaining.
The win handed FSU its first conference loss of the season and put the Terps in third place in the league heading into Thursday's game with the Wolfpack.
Toliver continues to lead the Terps in scoring (17.3 points per game) while fellow senior Marissa Coleman is not far behind at 15.0 ppg. A pair of newcomers, center Lynetta Kizer and forward Demauria Liles, are also double-digit contributors with 12.2 and 11.5 points per game, respectively. Liles also paces the Terps in rebounding with 8.9 per contest.
Coleman is 12 points shy of tying Shay Doron (2004-07) for third place on the Maryland career scoring list and is 12 rebounds shy of No. 1,000. She would become just the second Terrapin to reach 1,000 career rebounds, joining all-time leader Crystal Langhorne (1,229).
Maryland had faced three straight nationally-ranked teams, and five out of seven, heading into its lone regular-season meeting with NC State.
The Wolfpack (9-12, 1-5) snapped a six-game losing skid with its 57-46 win at Virginia Tech on Sunday. Two of the six losses came in overtime, including at North Carolina and at home versus Duke. Senior guard Shayla Fields ranks second in the ACC in scoring at 17.6 points per game, having eclipsed the 20-point mark eight times this season.
NC State is last in the league in scoring offense (60.8 ppg) but fourth in scoring defense (58.2 ppg allowed).
Despite winning four straight and six of the last eight games versus NC State, Maryland trails the all-time series 32-40.
