Two rounds are in the books and, after the 36-hole first day of competition at the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate, the Maryland women's golf team sits 12th with a combined score of 630, just nine strokes out of the top 10. Jessica Hollandsworth, who fired the round of the day for the Terrapins with a 1-under par 71 in the second loop, charged into a tie for 10th place individually, shooting a combined 5-over par 149.
Hilary Lawson carded the next-best score for the Terps in her second round, a 76 which represented a four-stroke improvement over her first round and gave her a tie for 43rd place individually. Lara Peffley shot a combined 160 to tie for 51st place, while Lauren Varnas finished at 165 to tie for 59th.
The squad will conclude the event, which host Georgia State leads with a combined 588, today. Hollandsworth, Maryland's most consistent golfer thus far in the spring season, sits seven strokes off the pace set by Furman's Stefanie Kenoyer.
