WASHINGTON, D.C. -
Maryland and Wake Forest squared off for a good cause Friday evening, taking part in the Kicks Against Breast Cancer campaign at RFK Stadium.
The always-heated rivalry between two of the best programs in men's college soccer ended with a 3-1 advantage for the Demon Deacons. Maryland's goal came in the 64th minute when a pair of freshmen teamed up for the score. Kaoru Forbess passed a ball through the middle for Matt Oduaran who finished with a groundball strike to the right of the Wake goalkeeper for the goal.
Maryland, which donned pink uniforms for the match, saw a portion of the proceeds from Friday's game donated to the Howard County General Hospital's Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center in Columbia, MD, a 501c3 non-profit organization supporting individual's affected by cancer.
Following the Maryland/Wake Forest game, D.C. United and the New England Revolution battled in MLS action. D.C. United honored the national champion Terps at halftime.
