CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Collegiate Water Polo Association named five University of Maryland women's water polo players to the 2009 All-CWPA Southern Division team at the Eastern Championship banquet on Friday night.
The CWPA also honored Elina Goldenberg as the Southern Division Rookie of the Year.
Elizabeth Hopkins and Goldenberg represented the Terrapins on the first team. Hopkins has made the team in each of her four seasons, making the first team in the last three. She will graduate in May as Maryland's all-time points leader.
Goldenberg set the Maryland freshman record with 67 points this season and leads the team in goals with 50. She has already earned a handful of awards this season, winning three division rookie of the week and two player of the week honors. She is the first Terp to bring the division's rookie of the year award back to College Park.
Seniors Ashleigh Jobson, Blaise Stanicic, and Rachel Jordan all secured spots on the second team. Jobson makes the team for the first time in her career, leading the team in saves (183) and steals (38).
Stanicic made her fourth appearance on the All-Southern Division team. She leads the Terps in assists with 34. Jordan earned her third recognition by accumulating 44 goals and a team-high 35 kickouts drawn.
