COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's soccer team started its spring competition season with a tie on Wednesday, April 1, notching a 2-2 stalemate against the former USL champion Rochester Rhinos.
After a scoreless first half, the Terps got on the board in the 58th minute after goalkeeper Will Swaim served a long distribution to Casey Townsend, who one-timed it into the back of the net for a Maryland 1-0 lead.
Rochester answered back with a score of its own with 29 minutes remaining before the Doug Rodkey had a nice run down the right flank and served the ball into Kaoru Forbess for Maryland's second score of the game in the 74th minute.
The Rhinos scored another late goal with under 12 minutes to play to tie the score. Everyone on the Maryland roster saw time in the contest. Zac MacMath held the Rhinos scoreless as Maryland's keeper in the first half.
The Terps return to action on Friday, April 17, with a highly-anticipated rematch against Wake Forest at 4 p.m. at RFK Stadium.
