GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Seven members of the University of Maryland men's lacrosse team were named to the 2009 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford.
Leading the way for the Terps were senior Jeff Reynolds and junior Brian Phipps, who each made the team for the third time. Joining Reynolds and Phipps on the team from Maryland are seniors Mike Griswold, Scott Tompkins and Nick Ward and sophomores Grant Catalino and Brett Schmidt.
Virginia senior Danny Glading, a senior English major, was named the conference's men's lacrosse scholar athlete of the year.
Fourteen (14) members of the 2009 squad were repeat honorees from last year's All-ACC Academic team.
Duke placed 12 student-athletes on the team for the third consecutive year. Maryland followed with its seven honorees, while Virginia and North Carolina had four and five, respectively.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
