COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland fell to a feisty Miami team, 80-77. It was the first loss in Comcast Center since Feb. 18, 2007 when Duke defeated the Terps, 69-57. Maryland's 48 home-game winning streak was one of the longest current streaks, second to UConn's 53. It holds as the longest winning streak in Maryland basketball history.

"Every streak is going to come to an end at some point, but I'm proud of what we've created here," head coach Brenda Frese said. "When you can look back at all of the talented teams we've had in here and beaten like Rutgers, LSU, Michigan State and all the ACC teams it's really something special. But now it's time for this team to make a new streak."

For the first time this season five players registered double-figure points. Leading the squad for Maryland was senior Lori Bjork with 17, freshman Tianna Hawkins had 14, sophomores Lynetta Kizer and Anjale Barrett each posted 14 and freshman Diandra Tchatchouang recorded 12. Bjork's four treys marked the eighth consecutive time she has recorded multiple three's in a game.

The Terrapins also outrebounded Miami 46-33. Maryland has only been beat against the boards twice this season. Kizer's 12 points were in addition to her 10 rebounds for her fifth season and 14th career double-double. Tchatchouang pulled down a career-high nine rebounds. Also hitting a career-high mark in the game was Barrett with eight assists.

The Terrapins were forced to make a comeback in the first half, something they are not strangers too. They had to climb out of early holes against Virginia and North Carolina also, both times heading into the locker room at halftime tied. The Terps were down by as many as 15 points as they battled against the Canes in the first half. Maryland held Miami scoreless for over four minutes and went on an 8-0 run to take the game within seven, 20-27.

The Hurricanes got one shot off with 3:18 on the clock and then the Terps continued hitting their shots. Maryland came within one of the Canes after a three-point play by Barrett. Miami then fouled Bjork who hit a successful one-and-one to take the Terrapins' first lead of the game and to end the half, 32-31. Maryland finished the first 20 minutes on a 20-4 run.

Both teams battled back and forth for control in the second half. The largest lead for either team was three points.

Tied at 74-74, Rodgers hit a three-pointer to take the game to 77-74 but Miami's Riquna Williams hit back-to-back three's for the win and a final score of 80-77. Williams currently leads the ACC in scoring and three pointers made averaging 21.4 points and 3.1 treys a game.

Miami (14-4 overall, 2-2 conference) broke their two-game skid after losing at home to No. 7 Duke and on the road to Wake Forest. The Hurricanes have also only lost one game on the road.

Maryland (14-5, 2-3 ACC) remains the leader in the all-time series with Miami, 8-2.

Maryland remains at home to face the No. 6/7 Duke Blue Devils on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports Network and will be broadcast by Terrapin Sports Radio Network.
