COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Fans are encouraged to come "Pack the House" as Maryland hosts their highest ranked opponent of the year, No. 6 Duke, in Comcast Center Sunday, Jan. 24. Tip-off is slated for 8:06 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally on Fox Sports Network.

Maryland and Duke have faced off 70 times since their first meeting in 1978. Since then they have battled each other for conference and national championships, most recently the 2009 ACC Tournament Championship in which the Terps won in overtime, 92-89. The overtime game the two teams faced each other in before that was the 2006 NCAA National title. Maryland took that title as well, 78-75.

The Terps own the overall all-time series, 37-33, and the series in College Park, 18-11. The last time Duke defeated Maryland at home was on Feb. 18, 2007.

The Terrapins have had a couple tough tests the last couple weeks. After defeating No. 19 Virginia 61-60 on the road and returning home to grab the program's 48th straight home court victory after defeating Boston College 72-65, Maryland has fallen in its last two conference matchups. The Terrapins suffered two difficult losses to No. 10 North Carolina on the road and to Miami at home. Both games forced Maryland to climb out of early holes of 11 points or more. The loss to the Hurricanes ended the Terps' home court winning streak which stands as the longest in Maryland basketball history and ranks in the nation's top-10. It was also one of the best ongoing home court winning streaks, second to Connecticut's 53.

In the game against Miami five Terrapins posted double-figure points led by senior Lori Bjork's 17. Maryland also has four players averaging double-figure points this season, the most in the league. Sophomore Lynetta Kizer is averaging 12.2 points a game and has registered five double-doubles this year. Bjork has had 12 double-point performances for an 11.0 average. Freshman Diandra Tchatchouang leads all freshmen in scoring with 13.5 points a contest and freshmen Tianna Hawkins averages a near double-double with 10.4 points and 8.5 rebounds a game. Hawkins leads all ACC freshmen in rebounding.

The Blue Devils are currently undefeated in the conference and have only dropped three games this season, all to opponents ranked in the top-16 including No. 2 Stanford and No. 1 Connecticut. Duke was predicted to finish second in the league and received 10 first place votes in the ACC Preseason polls. The Blue Devils have two players averaging double-figures, Preseason All-ACC selection Jasmine Thomas with 15.6 and Joy Cheek with 10.5. Krystal Thomas leads the team in rebounds, pulling down 7.4 boards a game. Duke most recently defeated Virginia Tech by a 31-point margin, 69-38.

The game will be broadcast by Terrapin Sports Radio Network. Sunday is also Daddy Daughter Day. Dads and Daughters will be recognized in-game and will have the chance to win prizes during team time outs. For only $18 get two tickets to the game and join in the fun!
