Tchatchouang Gets Second ACC Honor

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Freshman Diandra Tchatchouang's career performance against Saint Joseph's helped her earn her second Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week selection. Maryland has claimed three of the last five ROW honors between Tchatchouang and Tianna Hawkins.
Tchatchouang led the Terps after the first 20 minutes with 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting and three blocks against SJU. The La Courneuve, France, native finished with career-highs of 25 points (9-for-15) and five blocks. She added six rebounds in the winning effort.
Tchatchouang was the points leader for the Terrapins in all three games (Stony Brook, UNC Wilmington, Saint Joseph's) over the holiday break. The freshman forward was also named to the Terrapin Classic All-Tournament team after posting a team-high 14 points in the title game, a 67-61 win over the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks.
Tchatchouang has tallied double-figure points 14 times, including 11-consecutive contests. In addition to leading the team in points (14.8 ppg), the rookie has eclipsed the 20-point mark three times.
The Terrapins open conference action with a pair of road games. Maryland faces N.C. State first on Sunday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. ET. The Terps then head to Virginia for a Monday night game at 7:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 11.
