Former Coach Grimaldi Passes Away

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Former Maryland men's soccer coach Joseph Grimaldi passed away Dec. 18 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring. He was 83.
Grimaldi headed the Maryland men's soccer program from 1980 until 1984 when he resigned to become an assistant to the university's athletics director for the next two years.
While coaching the Terps, Grimaldi was tabbed ACC Coach of the Year in 1982 after leading Maryland to a 10-6-3 record while helping guide the Terps to their first two conference wins since the 1978 season.
Grimaldi is survived by wife, Josephine V. Grimaldi; daughters Joanne Marie Grimaldi, Grace Debra Halpin, and Paula Jean Reuther; son, Charles Edward Grimaldi; and grandchildren, Jenni, Joey, Gina, Jimmy, Johnny, Evan, Skylar and Mia.
