Senior Michele Brenner earned the Terrapins' highest score of the night with her 9.800 on the floor exercise, while the Terps as a team had an impressive night on the vault with a score of 48.625.
"Overall, there were some really good points with our veterans and our freshmen," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "We have some things to work on that we will address this week in the gym."
Maryland started the night on the uneven bars with senior Margaux Meeks going first. She earned a score of 9.250 to start the year off. Senior Brandi George earned the highest Terrapin score on the event, a 9.650, to help give the Terrapins an overall score of 47.525.
"Kaitlyn Joseph's dismount on her bar routine was very impressive," head coach Brett Nelligan said. "Kaitlyn and Kesley Cofsky really stepped it up." While the Terrapins competed on the bars, the Tigers started their night off on the vault and earned an overall score of 48.725.
Next, the Terrapins headed to the vault and junior Abigail Adams and freshman Ally Krikorian both earned scores of 9.775. Freshman Cofsky, who along with Adams was the Terps' two All-Around competitors, earned a 9.750. Their scores added up to 48.625, Maryland's highest event score of the night.
"Vault was definitely one of our strongest spots tonight," Nelligan said. "All of the vaults were great."
On floor, the Terrapins earned a score of 47.100, with Brenner's score of 9.800 and Adams' of 9.725.
"We have some things to work on on floor and we'll work hard this week to improve," Nelligan said.
George earned the Terps' highest score on the beam, a 9.725, as the last Terrapin competitor of the night. As a team, they earned a score of 47.375.
"Beam was really great, as always," Nelligan said. "We made some changes in warm-up so sophomore Kyra Phillips did a great job at the last minute."
The Terps will stay home next weekend for Friday night meet against Temple, Cornell and Bridgeport. The event will begin at 7 p.m.
