Head Coach Ralph Friedgen:
On his impression of the game:
"It was a very courageous win by our players. We played very well, even when the momentum changed
with about nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter. I've been down that road before, especially on the
road. I think it's a tribute to our players and our coaches that we were able to hang in there and get a win.
There were some emotions involved prior to the game with the accident to Pete DeSouza. We knew it was
going to be very difficult to run the ball against Boston College, but we couldn't give up on it and had to
be patient. A lot of our players showed up to make plays, that was much improved. We knew Harris
would run the ball, because he is a good back. We had to be big, strong and physical up front. We were
able to contain him and made a few plays at the end. When it's all said and done we got that last minute
stop. We have to feel pretty good about ourselves."
On going for fourth-and-inches in the fourth quarter:
"I said to myself, `How much am I really gaining?' We were on about the 28 or 30 yard line and we
needed six inches. We should make that. I didn't hesitate on that call."
On Mark Herzlich:
"I went up to Herzlich and told him how much I admire him after the game. He's a very good player, but
he's also a good person. After going through what he had, to play the way he's played is pretty
impressive. I respect that."
Junior WR Ronnie Tyler
On the win today:
"It felt good. We knew our passing game was going to be big today. Boston College has one of the best
run defenses not only in the ACC, but the entire country. We knew on third down it was up to us to make
plays. I'm happy we got the win."
On involving more receivers in the offense:
"It opens up the whole offense. It makes everyone's job a lot easier and the offense a lot more explosive."
Senior OL Paul Pinegar
On the road win:
"We haven't won a road game in over a year, so being able to grind this one out wasn't pretty but I'll take
a win any way it comes. After we found out about Pete, everyone was visibly down. After the game
everyone's heart was lifted, because we were able to go out and get a win for him. We have a game ball
for him that the offensive line is going to deliver to him tomorrow."
Senior LB Alex Wujciak
On controlling the game:
"They are a run-oriented team and wanted to give the ball to Harris. Getting behind, they were forced to
throw the ball and with a freshman quarterback it was tough for them. We put a lot of pressure on him.
Last week, we didn't get any turnovers. As a defense we pride ourselves on getting turnovers and they
were huge for us today."
