
Terps Tabbed No. 21 In AP Poll

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's basketball team is ranked No. 21 in the 2010 Preseason Associated Press poll. The Terps have begun six of their last seven seasons ranked in the AP Top 25.
Maryland earned 134 points to earn a spot in the first ranking of the 2010-11 season. The Terrapins will face at least four ranked opponents this year in No. 13 Georgetown and Atlantic Coast Conference opponents No. 6 Duke, No. 15 North Carolina and No. 18 Florida State. The Terps could face No. 14 St. John's Dec. 29 in the annual Terrapin Classic.
ACC schools Georgia Tech, North Carolina State and Miami also received votes.
Earlier this week, the Terrapins were predicted to finish fourth in the ACC. Freshmen Laurin Mincy and Alyssa Thomas were named to the ACC's Newcomers Watch List.
Maryland opens the 2010 season Nov. 2 with an exhibition against Gallaudet at 7 p.m. The Terps' second exhibition will be Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. against District of Columbia.
