GREENSBORO, N.C. - Kickoff for Maryland's football game at Clemson on Saturday, Oct. 16 has been set for noon ET.

The Atlantic Coast Conference office made the announcement Monday, with the matchup to be broadcast regionally on the ACC Network. The game will air locally on WJZ-TV (Channel 13 - CBS in Baltimore) and WTTG-TV (Channel 5 - FOX in Washington, D.C.). Click here for a complete list of affiliates carrying the game.

The Terrapins, who have a bye this week, are off to one of their best starts in Ralph Friedgen's 10 seasons. The Terps are 4-1 for the first time since 2008 and have won at least four of their first five for the third time in Friedgen's tenure (5-0 in 2001 en route to a 10-2 mark).

Clemson leads the series with Maryland, 30-26-2, but the Terps have defeated the Tigers the last two years and won three of their last four trips to Death Valley.

ACC home games are selected on a 12-day option by ESPN/ABC. Four times during the season, ESPN/ABC can choose certain ACC games on a six-day window.

About the ACC Network: Raycom Sports and the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Sept. 7 that beginning this season, the Raycom Sports Regional Syndicated package of league football and basketball telecasts will be branded as the ACC Network. The new marketing initiative features ACC Network graphics and designations. The Network's first telecast was the Duke at Wake Forest which was telecast on Saturday, Sept. 11. The ACC Network branding is part of the new television rights agreements between the ACC, Raycom Sports and ESPN that begins with the 2011 Football season. Raycom Sports and the Conference moved to begin the branding during the final year of the existing contract.

    Terp Notes

Bye Week Schedule: With a bye Saturday, this week's schedule is adjusted. The team is practicing Wednesday and Thursday. There is no Ralph Friedgen Radio Show on Wednesday. The next one will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 13 (8-9 p.m.) at the Outback Steakhouse in Hyattsville, Md. There will be a Ralph Friedgen Television Show this week. It will air at 11:30 a.m. Saturday on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic.

Explosive Plays: A large part of Maryland's success this season has been its ability to make big plays. Through five games, the Terps already have 31 explosive plays (20 yards or longer). More importantly, Maryland has scored 12 touchdowns on those plays. Comparatively, Maryland had just 13 TDs off explosive plays in all of 2009. The Terps also have 12 plays of 50 yards or longer on the year - four on punt returns, four on passes, three on rushes and one on an interception return.

Holding onto the Ball: The Terps have continued where they left off last season in the turnover department. Maryland ranked 97th in the FBS (-0.50 pg) in turnover margin in 2009, but improved during the latter half of the year, going +7.0 over the last five games. The defense forced 10 turnovers in the last five games after inducing seven in the first seven contests. This season, Maryland is first in the ACC and sixth nationally in turnover margin (+1.60 pg). The Terps, plus-8 on the season, have won the turnover battle in all five games. In fact, Maryland has not turned the ball over in its last 155:30 of game action, while gaining six from the opposition in that time span.

Dangerous Return Man: A reserve wideout who has solidified his role as a punt returner, Tony Logan has been a game-changer for Maryland this season. The junior is averaging an astounding 27.7 yards per return on 15 chances this season (second in the FBS). Logan is also one of just four players in the FBS who has two punt returns for touchdowns - an 85-yarder against FIU (9/25) and an 84-yarder vs. Duke (10/2). The TD returns came at crucial times for the Terps - his TD against FIU broke a 7-7 tie and the one against Duke gave Maryland a 14-9 lead. Logan has four returns over 50 yards and his 415 punt return yards are already the third most in a season in Maryland history total. In addition, Logan's yardage total is more than 114 of the 120 FBS schools tallied all of last season.

Multi-Faceted Playmaker: A Biletnikoff Award candidate, Torrey Smith has established himself as one of the most explosive playmakers in the nation over the last two-plus seasons. Smith set the ACC single-season record for kickoff return yardage each of the last two years, totaling 1,309 return yards a year ago. He leads the team in receptions (17) and receiving yards (405) and his 81.0 receiving yards per game ranks fourth in the ACC. The junior has five TD receptions which ranks second in the ACC and matches his total from last season. With two TDs vs. Morgan State (9/11) and West Virginia (9/18), he became the first Terp to record consecutive multiple touchdown-reception games since Jermaine Lewis in 1993. Smith's explosive play ability has been evident this season. He has touchdown receptions of 60, 68 and 80 yards and is averaging 20.5 yards every time he touches the ball.

More than Just a Tackling Machine: One of the top play-making linebackers in the country, Alex Wujciak has proved he can do more than just wrap up opposing ball carriers. Wujciak, a two-time All-ACC selection, ranked eighth in the FBS in tackles last season (10.9 per game) and is currently 10th (11.4). He is on the watch list for five awards - Lombardi Award, Nagurski Trophy, Lott Trophy, Bednarik Award and Butkus Award. He set a new career high with 18 tackles in the season opener against Navy, but the senior has been productive in other ways. He had a pair of interceptions late last season (70-yarder for a TD vs. NC State; 80-yard return vs. FSU) and set the Maryland record for return yards, totaling 152. Over the last 10 games, he's also forced three fumbles and broken up a pair of passes.

Turtle Bites: A disruptive force who looks like he is coming into his own, junior safety Kenny Tate is the leading tackler in the ACC among defensive backs (7.8 per game) and is one of three players in the ACC with a league-leading three forced fumbles ... senior Adrian Moten leads the ACC in interceptions among linebackers (3). He is also one of just six linebackers in the FBS with three or more picks this season ... Friedgen earned his 70th win at Maryland with Saturday's win over Duke. He became just the 13th coach in ACC history to reach that mark.

    By the Numbers...

0... Number of points the opposition has scored off four Maryland turnovers this season. In contrast, the Terps have scored 38 points off 12 opponent turnovers.

2... Joe Vellano ranks second in the ACC in tackles (5.8 per game) among interior defensive linemen.

3... Maryland, Miami and Florida State are the only teams which rank in the top five of the ACC in both scoring defense and offense. The Terps are fifth in the league in scoring offense (31.8 points per game) and fourth in scoring defense (18.4 ppg).

4... The Terps are tied for fourth nationally in red-zone defense. The opposition has scored just 14 times (10 TDs/4 FGs) off the 23 possessions which have reached inside Maryland's 20-yard line.

4... The Terps have four of the top nine tacklers in the ACC. Alex Wujciak is second (11.4 per game), Adrian Moten is sixth (8.2), Kenny Tate is tied for seventh (7.8) and Demetrius Hartsfield is ninth (7.4).

5... Joe Vellano is tied for ACC lead with 5.0 sacks, including two against Duke (10/2).

200... Saturday's victory over Duke was the 200th in Byrd Stadium history.
