COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Forward Jason Herrick is one of 10 men's soccer finalists for the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, which honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.
Herrick has started all nine matches and contributed three goals for No. 6 Maryland (6-2-1, 2-1-1 ACC). He netted his first score of the season while leading the Terps to a 5-0 rout of Northeastern before tallying a pair of goals in a key conference win against N.C. State. The Elmhurst, Ill., native has also chipped in an assist to help guide the top offense in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Herrick was chosen from a list of 30 men's candidates announced in August. Nationwide fan votes will be combined with media and coaches votes to determine the winner. Fans can vote via the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award website at the link above from now through November 14.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Lowe's, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the Senior CLASS Award winners during the 2010 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup championships in early December.
