GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Danny O'Brien was honored Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference for his play in Saturday's 62-14 victory over Wake Forest.

O'Brien was voted the league's rookie of the week for the third time this season after completing 13 of 20 passes for 168 yards with a career-high four touchdowns and no interceptions against the Demon Deacons. He had an efficiency rating of 201.56, the eighth-best mark for freshman in the FBS this season, and has seven touchdowns and no interceptions over the last two games.

In all five of his starts (4-1 record), O'Brien has connected with at least eight different receivers. His 4.33-to-1 TD to interception ratio is tops in the FBS among freshmen, as is his 1.80 interception percentage (three picks in 167 attempts). Despite not starting the first three games of the season, his 13 TD passes are tied for second in the country among freshmen.

A.J. Francis (defensive line) and Kenny Tate (defensive back/outside LB) were also nominated for ACC Player of the Week honors.
