Lisa Scott led the Terps in kills, blocks and attack percentage as the University of Maryland volleyball team swept Wake Forest, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22) on Friday night at the Comcast Pavilion in College Park, Md.
Scott, a Langley, Va. native, led Maryland (18-10, 9-7 ACC) over Wake Forest (16-11, 8-8 ACC) with eight kills on .330 hitting and also knocked down four blocks, three of which were solo. Scott now has 69 solo blocks on her career and needs just 14 more to tie Kelly Malins and Kelli Myers for fifth-place in Maryland school history.
Four of Scott's eight kills, came in the third period for the Terps, who never trailed and held the Demon Deacons to .070 hitting in the final set.
Maryland also saw strong performances from Kara Bates who tied Scott with eight kills and Brittney Grove and Mary Cushman, who each knocked in six kills. Remy McBain earned her 11th career double-double with 30 assists and 11 digs.
For Wake Forest, Andrea Beck recorded 11 kills on a match-high .364 hitting while Kristen White recorded a double-double, tallying a game-best 13 kills and 10 digs. Kelsey Jones led all players with 34 assists for the Demon Deacons, who drop back to .500 in ACC play.
With the win, the Terps won both games against Wake Forest. On Sep. 30, Maryland came back to win a five-set thriller on the road.
The Terps will host the Duke Blue Devils, who most recently swept Boston College, on Sunday. In Maryland's final home game of the season, the Terps will honor Brittney Grove, Michelle Kenning, Marissa Odom and Bethany Springer for Senior Day.
