The Terps recorded 17 steals, which played a pivotal role in increasing Maryland's 33-31 lead with 16:00 remaining to a 44-33 advantage.
Maryland outrebounded Towson 44-24. Maryland has controlled the boards in all three games this season.
Three Terps finished in double figures. Sophomore Diandra Tchatchouang posted a team-high 12 and freshman Alyssa Thomas and sophomore Tianna Hawkins each had 10.
Maryland went 13 players deep against Towson, with nine scoring at least five points each.
The Terrapin defense held its opponents to under 50 points for the second game this season.
Individual Game Notes
Sophomore Diandra Tchatchouang led the Terps with 12 points and nine rebounds, both team highs.
Playing in just her third career game, freshman Alyssa Thomas set a career mark going 5 for 11 from the field for 10 points. Thomas also led the Terps with a game-high five steals.
Coming off the bench, sophomore Tianna Hawkins recorded 10 points and five rebounds.
