COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland wrestling team will compete in the 44th annual East Stroudsburg Open on Saturday in East Stroudsburg, Pa.
The Terps will face competition from some of the top talent in the country as over 400 wrestlers are expected to participate.
The following Terps will compete in the East Stroudsburg Open Saturday: Brian Marcoux (125), Jenkins Monzey (125), Frank Goodwin (133), Mason Goretsas (133), Kenneth Collado (133), Mark Hartenstine (141), Danny O'Malley (141), Brad Molina (141), Ben Dorsay (149), Danny Orem (157), Domenic DeRobertis (157), Aaron Norris (174) and Ty Snook (184).
"The East Stroudsburg Open is a great event," said head coach Kerry McCoy. "It is another chance for our guys to see some good competition and I think we will do well."
Asper in All-Star Classic
No. 4 Josh Asper will compete in the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic in Fresno, Calif., on Sunday.
The classic, in its 45th year, features marquee exhibition matchups between many of the top-ranked wrestlers in the country at each weight class.
Asper's bout against No. 6 Shane Onufer of Wyoming will mark the third year in a row Maryland has been represented at the event, with Steve Bell and Alex Krom participating in 2009 and Hudson Taylor in 2008.
"It is great for Josh to be competing in the All Star match," said McCoy. "He has faced his opponent before and we are looking forward to the match. He has had a great week of preparation and is ready to go."
