COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's basketball team stopped local opponent Gallaudet, 90-37, Tuesday night in the Terps' first exhibition game of the season. All 14 Terrapins saw action in the preseason matchup.

Freshman Alyssa Thomas led the way in scoring with 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Junior Lynetta Kizer and freshman Laurin Mincy each scored 10. Junior Anjale Barrett notched nine points, while sophomore Diandra Tchatchouang and freshman Alicia DeVaughn each added eight.

"I thought it was a really nice way for us to start, especially with so many new players and faces and getting the first half jitters out," head coach Brenda Frese said. "I saw a lot of positive things, especially with our depth , size and length. There are a lot of areas we can improve on early on in the season and there are some areas we need to get better at."

As a team, the Terps dished 23 assists on the night. Sophomore Dara Taylor gave out five and freshman Natasha Cloud followed with four.

The Terrapins shot over 50 percent from the field, including 62.5 percent from outside the arc. Maryland won the battles in points in the paint 56-6, points off turnovers 34-6 and bench points 45-2.

Defensively, Maryland won the rebounding advantage 54-24. Sophomore Essence Townsend, DeVaughn and Tchatchouang each had two blocks. The Terps got a hand on 11 of Gallaudet's shots and forced 22 turnovers. The Terrapins nabbed 10 steals.

Britny Latham led the Bison with 13 points.
